Denman's on Notice

Denman's officially on notice (with apologies to Brad and John). Don't mess up the Breeders Cup Denman!
Jose Santos makes the list for his awful ride on Caiman in Friday's first at Saratoga. Santos gets fanned out five wide on the turn (in a six-horse field!) and then can't extend Caiman enough to get by Seaside Salute and apprentice Jeffrey Sanchez (who was making his first-ever ride at Saratoga).

Rob - Sorry, but I gotta come to Santos' defense here; perhaps because he seems like a nice guy and he really struggled to even get mounts at Saratoga, that's how tough the jockey colony was there. I remember one morning I was on the backstretch and he was just hanging out with no mounts at all in the afternoon. So I can say with some certainty that he wasn't trying to lose. In that race, it looked as if he was blindswitched and carried wide by Dual Jewels.

I'm also certain Santos wasn't trying to lose. It was just a little vent after seeing the best horse in that race lose (and my $20 go down with it!). Santos seems by all accounts to be a nice guy but what good is a blog if you can't pass some rash, baseless judgments.
